A new school year has begun in the Christian schools of the Holy Land. After the summer break, the students went back to school with great enthusiasm. DIMA MUJAHID Terra Sancta Jerusalem High School I am very happy to go back to school, to my friends and to my normal life. I want to build my future. NICOLA AL HADWE Terra Sancta Jerusalem High School During the summer holidays we recharged our "batteries". We returned to continue our education. As is tradition at Terra Sancta Jerusalem High School, students line up to sing the hymn of St Francis: "O Lord, use me for your peace." In his opening address, Brother Ibrahim Faltas, Director of Terra Sancta Schools, appealed to the students to uphold the school's academic reputation. He also called for mutual respect and wished everyone a good school year. The students of the Holy Land schools, which follow the Palestinian education system, returned to their desks on 29 August. IBRAHIM FALTAS, OFM Director of the Holy Land Schools Especially for the schools in Jerusalem we have great challenges to face which are related to teaching according to the Palestinian school system. A modern and well-equipped school that wants to offer quality holistic education to all students. NICOLA AL HADWE Terra Sancta Jerusalem High School Our school has progressed and become one of the best in Jerusalem. It is truly amazing. Br IBRAHIM FALTAS, ofm Director of the Holy Land Schools All the renovations we have done have had a positive impact on the students, especially those who will be taking their baccalaureate this year. The Custody of the Holy Land's interest in education but also in supporting the local community is evident in the numbers: 15 schools in which more than twelve thousand students, both Christian and Muslim, study. The Christian schools that instead follow the Israeli education system reopened on 1st September. Br ABDEL MASIH FAHIM, ofm General Secretary of Christian Schools in Israel About 30,000 students have started a new school year in our Christian schools. According to Brother Abdel Masih, Christian schools are an example in education, knowledge, values, virtues, morals and rules of good behaviour. Br ABDEL MASIH FAHIM, ofm General Secretary of Christian Schools in Israel We try to accompany our students educationally so that one day the violence that exists in society may disappear and be replaced by feelings of love and peace. He also expressed his hope that talks with the Israeli Ministry of Education would progress so that "students in Christian schools would obtain the same rights as students in other schools". Br ABDEL MASIH FAHIM, ofm General Secretary of Christian Schools in Israel I wish everyone a fruitful new school year.
